The Book Thief, Markus Zusak

The Book Thief is about a girl called Liesel who steals books and hearts in this stunning novel. The Book Thief is for young adults. Liesel is an orphaned girl with a horrific past and unknown future. Liesel has not seen or heard of her father at all and her mother drops her off at a foster/adopted family. The Hubbermans. The Hubbarmans are very interesting people who have problems and Liesel will get shoved into them. The Book Thief was set in Germany from 1939-1942 and Liesel’s family takes measures that astound me. Hans Hubberman does not join the Nazi Party because a Jew saved his life and he hides a Jew in his basement. Rosa Hubberman helps Hans and generally swears a lot. Liesel is very helpful because she does not tell anyone anything. Liesel has an exciting career as a book thief and she steals every book she can get her hands on so she  can read with her new Papa.

The Book Thief is one of my personal favorite books and I think everyone should read it. The Book Theif swears a lot. There is some swearing but most of this is joking. Rudy is my favorite character but he dies at the end of the book. Rudy is always asking Liesel for a kiss because he really loves her. The romance in the book gives everything a different feel. Everything would be so different without the love. I thought The Book Thief was the best book in the whole universe. Five Stars. Thanks for Reading!!!!! Have a Great Day!!!!! -annaleeliz and Buttons
