Happyland, by Tes Mekonnen

The author sent me a review copy. Many thanks to him/her.

So first off, there is no way to summarize this book. Just like I cannot find any pictures of it online, which is where I get all my pictures (I suck at taking them myself). At first this book was very confusing. Then things became clearer. Note: This is not going to be a long review because of Christmas and all. I want to spend time with my family over Christmas break.

My problem was not with characters, at first. Then the main character, who only spoke one word the entire book, started getting fought over. You know, two or more guys fight over one pretty girl. I always hate that, I can understand it if the girl is smart or something like that but if the girl hasn’t said one word to anyone, then why are you fighting over her you stupid gits? Besides that issue I thought that the characters were ok. These characters had really odd names, like Lily Marshmallow or Prince GobblyGook.  That was odd. All of the characters were really funny in a quirky way.

The plot was odd. What confused me at first was the words that they used, things like bethecause (I think that means because). But after a while I got used to it. There was not that much setting because everyone was traveling so much but that was okay. After all they did have to reach Happyland. This book was very short. It was roughly 150 pages. If I had to say what genre this book should be in it would be in middle – grade. The pictures in it were beautiful and whoever drew them is very talented. This book was a quick and fun read. I really do hope that however reads this likes it.

I had some issues with this book but all in all it was okay. Once again, sorry for the short blog post. I want to spend some time with my family over Christmas. Please remember to fill out my survey. You can find the link on my about page. Thanks for Reading!!!! Have a Great Day!!!! -Annalee and Buttons
