Hoping to ensure their friendship will outlast high school, Izzie and her friends form a secret society devoted to mischief that rights wrongs and pays back debts, but it spirals out of control when the whole town wants to participate.
This book sounded good. I really wanted to enjoy it. I really did. I just couldn’t get behind any of the teenagers or the things that they were doing. It seemed too over the top. The setting wasn’t that good, because Ms. Sirowy just expected us to know what the inside of a barn and a high school looked like and fill in the characters. If you want to know more of my thoughts then you should read on.
The characters were infuriating. I just wanted to shake them at times and tell them to get it together. You want to create a secret society. I’m fine with that. But that doesn’t mean that you get to do whatever you feel like doing in the name of your society. The characters didn’t change at all during the book and they didn’t act like normal high school kids. It made me upset whenever I read about the society. I was thinking that this would be a book about some kids who started a secret society and did some silly harmless stuff. I was wrong.
The plot kept moving forward, toward what though I can’t say. The characters kept making dumb choices that could have gotten them arrested or even killed. I don’t think that most teenagers act like these did. I know that I am a teenager and I don’t know anyone who would ever act like this. I also wonder why the kids running this were researching terrorist groups and murdering cults to get information that they think would be useful. That’s just looking for trouble.
The setting was not very good. It was like the author thought that everyone had experienced high school and would know what it looked like. Same with the barn and the meteorite. Not everyone has seen the inside of a barn or a meteorite, so because there were close to no descriptions I didn’t know what the meteorite looked like. I really hated that.
I can honestly say that I hated this. And I mean hated this like I hated the Red Queen series. I honestly cannot recommend this. The summary came from the Library of Congress. Please remember to fill out my survey. There is a link to it on my about page. Sorry for the short review. Thanks for Reading!!!! Have a Great Day!!! -Annalee and Buttons
