Wish You Were Eyre, by Heather Vogel Fredrick — December 9, 2017

Wish You Were Eyre, by Heather Vogel Fredrick

download (1)Surprise!!! Mrs. Wong has decided to run for mayor. Emma and Stewart are her campaign mangers. Except that things are not right between Emma and Stewart. A new girl is in town and all of the boys are attracted to her. Plus there are some unexpected things happening and no one knows what to do. Never fear the mother daughter book club is here. They are reading Jane Eyre and they draw inspiration from her. But will it be enough?

This book is so sweet!!!! I loved to so much!!! It talked about all feelings and boyfriend troubles and everything in between.  I can’t wait to go more into detail about it. Which I guess happens now.

The girls were as witty as ever. I wish I could meet them here but I can’t. After all, they live in a book. And now I am thinking of ways that I can sneak into the book and meet them. To bad that can’t happen. I enjoyed the way that they pranked the Sophie. These girls are so creative. I love how unique the girls are. They are all different and they accept each other’s differences. I wish that the people in America did that. For once, I did not side with the misunderstood characters. I sided with Megan. I have a cat and I understand how it would feel if your cat loved someone else more then you. She was so smart and she helped people out. She and the other girls also made a lot of mistakes. I like that they were imperfect. After all, no one is perfect in the real world and authors want to make their characters relatable so they should not be perfect. That is my logic, it might be (probably is) wrong.

The plot was really interesting. I loved how Heather made love a theme in this book without overdoing it. Some authors are like, the only thing that the characters have to talk about is love. I enjoy reading books where characters talk about their lives (because I probably don’t have one) and not a lot about love, but there is still love in the book. I really enjoyed reading about how Mrs. Wong ran for mayor. That was really empowering because of how some people (women) run for office and lose. I am glad that we finally read in a book about a woman winning an election. That made feel like I can do anything. I think that it makes most (female) readers feel like they can do anything.

The setting was beautiful and descriptive. It made me want to go to Paris and I hate cities. To much noise, not enough reading. The descriptions made me feel like I was in the place that Heather was talking about. When characters are always on the move or there are multiple POVs, it is good to be able to picture yourself it that place with the characters. I loved this book for all because it is so great.

I am going to end this review here because I have a massive stack of books calling to me and I need to finish them all. Please read this book. I can promise that you will love it. Home for the Holidays, by Heather Vogel Fredrick —

Home for the Holidays, by Heather Vogel Fredrick

download (1)None of the girls are home for the holidays. They are all on their dream vacations. Whether that be skiing in Switzerland or taking a tropical cruise these girls are in for a lot of unexpected adventures.

This book was very funny. Just like all the other books in the series. I can’t wait to read the last book in the series. I hope that it is just as good as the other books in the series. Let’s get on with the review.

The characters were just as good as the characters in the other books. Or maybe I just had really high hopes. Once again I want to live with the characters. All of the characters were so relatable. I loved them to death. I wish we saw more of my favorite character, Svannah Sinclair. But my favorite character in this book was Emma. The bookish girl who is insecure. I wish I could meet her. I want to meet all of them but I want to meet Emma in real life the most.

The plot is sort of confusing. It moves to fast in my opinion. And we introduced another viewpoint in Becca Chadwick so I never really knew which viewpoint we were in. It was sort of annoying. Otherwise the plot was pretty good. The Secret Santa mix up was really funny. One thing going for this book is how funny it is. I laughed really hard while reading this book. I hope that the next book is just as funny. I can’t wait for the next book.

I enjoyed this book except for the few flaws. Please remember to fill out my survey!!!! You can find the link on my about page. Thanks for Reading!!!!! Have a Great Day!!!! -Annalee and Buttons

Pies and Prejudice, by Heather Vogel Fredrick — December 8, 2017

Pies and Prejudice, by Heather Vogel Fredrick

download (1)Emma is moving to England!!!!! For a year. The book club has decided to video chat to stay in touch and read Pride and Prejudice. Emma has discovered that there are queen bees in England too and the boys living in Emma’s house are causing trouble in school for everyone. The girls cook up an elaborate scheme to bring Emma home. Will it work?

This book was hilarious. I loved it so much!!!! Can I live in England please? I mean, seriously people, if you have that kind of money can you give it to me so that me and my family can go there? I would love it.

This is the first time that I did not talk about the characters in the paragraph above!!!! Do I get an award? I don’t, ok. Well I thought that all the characters in this book were really funny. While the girls were reading about Mr. Darcy some of them were having Mr. Darcy relationships of their own. We dove deeper into the thoughts of the characters, which I thought was good. My only problem was that we did not get enough from my two favorite characters. Becca Chadwick and Svannah Sinclar. I needed more of them. Otherwise I enjoyed the characters a lot.

The plot was very detailed. I loved the relationship between Rupert and Emma. Poor Emma. I think that she should have a book blog. She would love it. Love was a huge factor in this book. They talked a lot about Emily and Mr. Darcy during book club and they talked a lot about their crushes. I think that was good because the girls are growing older and in real life they would have had crushes by now. I really enjoyed this book and I highly recommend it.

Dear Pen Pal, by Heather Vogel Fredrick — December 3, 2017

Dear Pen Pal, by Heather Vogel Fredrick

download (1)The book club is back. And they have decided that they will be penpals with another mother – daughter book club in Wyoming. But the girls don’t care about the penpal letters. They have another problem. Jess is going to boarding school and her roommate is like snooty Becca Chadwick. Only 10 times worse. So the girls have to save Jess from her roommate, write letters to their penpals, and do the required reading? And they thought that 8th grade was supposed to be easy.

This book was so adorable!!!!!!! I loved to so much!!!!!! All the characters were so sweet (even Svannah, in the end) and the plot and setting were so detailed.  I mean, what not is there to love?

The characters were once again amazing!!!!! I loved them all and I hope that we will see them all again in the next book. I enjoyed the penpal characters the most. They were sort of a mystery the whole book but then when we met them I enjoyed them so much. I hope that we see more of them in the next book as well. My favorite character was Svannah. She changed a lot in the book and by the end I loved her the most. She was just lonely, after all. Then we meet the newest, and littlest character in the book. I will not tell you anymore about her because I do not want to spoil the surprise. I think that I liked the characters in this book better then the ones in all the other books.

The plot was very interesting. I thought that it was very awesome for the girls in the book club to have penpals in Wyoming. All of the girls in the book club were very supportive of each other. I like it when authors put girls making friendships instead of burning them down. You don’t see that often. I hope that we see more of that in the future. I think that it id very empowering to girls. It shows them that they are stronger together. I really love it when you meet all the animals in detail. I don’t know why I love this I just do. I really enjoyed this book and I hope that everyone reads it.

Much Ado About Anne, by Heather Vogel Fredrick — December 2, 2017

Much Ado About Anne, by Heather Vogel Fredrick

download (1)The mother daughter book club is back. This time with a new member. Becca Chadwick. Becca is as mean as ever but everyone can agree that she gets things done. As the girls navigate 7th grade they realize something horrible. Jess’s parents might have to sell Half Moon Farm. The whole book club (even Becca) will have to team up to save it. And even that might not be enough.

I thought that this book was very sweet. It was very friendship based, which means that we did not see as much of the book club as I would have liked. But that was okay. I enjoyed seeing more of Mrs. Delany and Half Moon Farm. But let’s stop my rambling and get on with the review.

All of the characters were so real. I loved and cherished them all. I hope that they are as good in the next book. All the girls fights (I would say something but I won’t) were really realistic. It seemed to me like I was back in 4th grade. Let me tell you, that is not a good thing. My favorite character out of all this was Becca. Shocker. But I liked her a lot after she was nicer. Like I said, she had the will to get things done. I like people like that. Sorry, not sorry. I think that after we got over ourselves and Becca was nicer, we would get along just fine with each other. Everyone else in this book was very good as well. I think that we will get to know Becca and the rest of the Fab 3 in the next book.

The plot was very interesting. There were lots of mini adventures in the it and even though there was not much of a plot I still loved the plot. (How can you love the plot when there is not much of the plot) Because the whole Half Moon Farm thing didn’t come in until the middle of the book I couldn’t call that much of a plot. I think that this book was based more on the characters and the character development. All of the mini adventures were really funny and realistic. I wish I had more of them. But I don’t. Well I can say that blogging is an adventure. Now I am just rambling so I will wrap it up here.

I enjoyed this book a whole lot. I highly recommend it. Did you see that it is snowing on my blog?!!! Isn’t it awesome!!!! Please remember to fill out my survey. You can find the link on my about page. Thanks for Reading!!!! Have a Great Day!!!!! -Annalee and Buttons

The Mother – Daughter Book Club, by Heather Vogel Fredrick — December 1, 2017

The Mother – Daughter Book Club, by Heather Vogel Fredrick

download (1)Emma has already read everything. Megan would love to be at the mall. Cassidy would rather be playing hockey. And Jess barely talks. But these 4 girls are now part of the mother – daughter book club. As the girls read Little Women they navigate the social part of middle school. Through the ups and the downs these 4 unlikely friends are in for a wild ride this year.

This book is very realistic. I enjoyed it but there were a few flaws with the book. I think that the characters were very realistic and so was the plot. I always enjoy a realistic book.

The characters were very funny. It was them against the world. I thought that all the characters needed to grow up more. I mean, sometimes they acted like 2 year olds. And since they are 11 and 12, they should not be acting this way. I wanted them to be a little bit more grown up. And these girls showed little to no character development which made me annoyed. Otherwise, the characters were great. My favorite was Emma, the one who read everything. I mean, most book bloggers can relate to that. Even though we are swamped with books to read. I enjoyed the characters for their diversity, wit, and humor. If you read books for the characters I would not recommend this book because it does not have the best characters.

The plot was very cool. I mean, who wouldn’t have wanted to be in a mother – daughter book club? Actually, probably anyone not reading this. I know that I would have loved that. The idea was really cool. I also liked this book because it taught you things about Concord in a fun way so that it did not seem like you were learning anything. Some people I know hate reading, but would love this book. I think that the plot moves at just the right pace. The author has hit her writing sweetspot for the plot. I think that the Little Women quotes in the beginning of each chapter were really awesome as well. Reading that book made me want to reread Little Women. (Side note: Don’t read this book if you have not read Little Women. There are major spoilers.)

I loved reading this book and I cannot wait to read the next one in the series. Please remember to fill out my survey. You can find the link on my about page. Thanks for Reading!!!! Have a Great Day!!! -Annalee and Buttons
